This is a series of gameplay vids I'm doing highlighting overlooked games for the various consoles I own.

A note for the classic consoles: I don't really remember which games go a lot of attention back in the 16-bit days, so when I post them as underrated it's based on whether or not I hear them get mentioned when people still talk about those classic systems.

Brain Lord is a puzzle heavy action adventure RPG released by Enix on the SNES. At first glance it comes off as extremely generic in presentation, and it does have a generic feel in the characters, and settings. However, gameplay-wise, this game is a lot of fun, and has a lot to offer.

It plays like a Zelda, except it's more RPG-ish in nature. It's called Brain Lord for a good reason, because it's extremely puzzle heavy, and it has some tough puzzles throughout the game. It's a good game for those who don't mind a little thinking with their adventures.

The action is also pretty good. along the way you collect little faeries (think familiars in Castlevania SOTN) who help you in various ways by either attacking enemies, or healing you. You also collect different usable weapons, and even spells that you're able to charge up and then unleash on your foes.

The game doesn't reinvent the wheel on games of this type, but it puts it's own spin on the formula. If you're looking for another good SNES Action Adventure RPG on the SNES, try giving Brain Lord a go.

Brain Lord, so far as I know, isn't available on the Virtual Console or any other current gen downloadable service, so It's only on the SNES at present time (assuming you're not a rom whore).
