The next game in my upload schedule after two Ulisoft-developed, Neo Geo Pocket-styled games is... yet another Neo Geo Pocket-styled game from the Brazil-based developer. I think I covered all fighting games they made so far, barring SNK vs Capcom 3: Rivals (as that game is still under development). Originally released around May 2013, SNK vs Capcom: Rivalry Conclusion is not only the first entry of their "SNK vs Capcom: Rivals" series of fan-made games - which features characters from various SNK and Capcom IPs duking it out - but is also the first game they have ever made.

SNK vs Capcom: Rivalry Conclusion's mechanics include a "Special Command" button (D) - in addition to your standard attack buttons (Weak Punch (A), Weak Shot (B), and Strong Attack (C)), there is that aforementioned button, which is used exclusively for moves that use up meter. The game's super attacks come in two flavors: level 1 supers, which consume a single bar of meter, and level 3 supers, which take up three bars and are generally more powerful (although some of them are more difficult due to this game's weird input system - I cannot for the life of me pull off Ryu's Shin Shoryuken (222D) in combos because of this).

These super attacks aren't the only way to use meter - using the Special Command button, you can do Launchers, which uses up a bar of meter and launches the opponent forwards, upwards, and/or downwards (the latter only available in the air) depending on the input. These Launchers could also cause a wall bounce or a ground bounce, allowing you to extend your combos. Other mechanics include a taunt (BC) which fills up a bar of meter, as well as universal overheads (AC).

More importantly, however, this game is a mess. As I said earlier, this was the first game Ulisoft has ever made, and it shows. There were several quirks I found during gameplay, such as how you could effectively continue combos if you hit the opponent in the air but before they touched the ground (even after they seemingly recovered from the air attack), or how the character select music continued to play when you start a versus match. Add that to how some special moves behave strangely, and you've got perhaps the most jank game I've ever played for a while.

0:00 Intro
This intro sequence vaguely sets up the story of the game, introducing the playable characters (and group names based on the pairings indicated by the intro, which might have been more useful if this game was a tag fighter) including sub-bosses Gill (from Street Fighter) and Mizuchi (from Neo Geo Battle Coliseum), both of which have the group name "Heavenly Ambition". Also, something about how Gill is "Above Heaven" and Mizuchi is "Below Heaven", and something about... summoning God? All this is shown while Guilty Gear music plays in the background.

1:27 Arcade Mode
Your chosen character (in this video being Ryu from Street Fighter) sets out, fights several opponents, and thwarts whatever Gill's up to by destroying the Pillar of Sublimation. It is then revealed that he used the power generated by the Pillar of Sublimation(?) to summon Mizuchi, who isn't happy that he is being used for Gill's plans and kills him off before facing you. After being defeated, however, he transforms into a monster (at least, the text implies this), who is then finished off by spamming cross-ups quickly enough. Ryu's ending is just one big monologue about how the path of the warrior gets tougher over time, and how destinies may cross again (I suppose, in terms of meeting your rival, which is Sho Kamui (the Breakers character who is paired with Ryu in this game)).

11:33 End Screen
Now to wait until SNK vs Capcom 3: Rivals finishes development so I can make a video about that too. At least, I hope it does exit the demo stage sooner than later. Oh, and also add Akuma as a playable character. I would want to commission Ulisoft to do that, but sadly don't have $100, and adding an OC instead would probably be more worth it in the long run...
