So I'd been recording stuff to VHS cassettes using "Standard Play" and wondered why everything looked so damn good. I decided to give "Long Play" a go and everything started to make sense.
The VHS effect we think of is actually because 99% of people just used "LP" mode to get the most out of their cassettes back in the day. Makes sense, and because of that, we equate "VHS" to the crappy LP mode instead of the decent SP mode.
