How to fix .inf file for hp printer unknown needed. My PC Install Windows 8.1 64 bit, I am trying to add an HP Laser Jet series printer that is connected to another machine on the network. The other machine's OS is XP 32 bit. Due this reason 32 bit Driver not work with 64 bit OS.

I am also face same problem and discovered that to fix, I did the following:

Solved:
Windows 7,8 & 8.1 Users

1) On the Win 7,8 & 8.1 computer ....
2) Devices and Printers
3) Add a printer
4) Add a local printer
5) Select Create a new port:
6} Select Local Port for the Type of port:
7) Enter the network name of the XP computer ie. \\XPcomputername\LJprinterid
Install the LaserJet 1020 driver when prompted
