Now I'm not a fan of the Apex system in Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate. It has some big problems and issues that we haven't really shown off because hunts have generally gone rather quickly. But this episode featuring an event quest Apex Deviljho is going to be a prime example of the problems with the Apexes. There really isn't a point to engage an Apex monster without the Wystones as all you do is put yourself in a grave disadvantage against a basically unfazed foe with so many attacks bouncing or deflecting. If you're with a group of other hunters I could see knocking the Apex state away more commonly but solo? Apex hunts that are too long really bog down the experience of MH4U's endgame if done wrong.
