I think gameplay-wise the difficulty is starting to curve up, mainly with some of the boss fights and scripted sequences. I'm not sure if Xenogears is suppose to be a grindy rpg, but even with Bart's new Gear, the journey is more of an uphill battle now than it's ever been before.
