"Song of Healing" Vocal Cover: Heart Medicine
523This is my vocal cover of "Song of Healing" from Majora's Mask (originally composed by Koji Kondo). These are the lyrics, in case anyone is interested. :) I wrote them.
Wanderer, hear ye my whispers in the night
yonder in blackness there faintly glimmers light
Flickering wanly beneath thee is a star
Softly it beckons from caverns afar
Merciful eyes gaze on thee gently
Warm as a flame, clear as the morn
There in the dark, one reaches to thee
Look thee upon one whom answers thy call
Here flows a river unto yon silver sun
Tunefully shadows ring let thy sorrows run
Glimmering silently, thy heart’s sacred mere
Moonsong bequeaths thee thy beloved tear
You are but lost, blithely unshapen
Cloud not thy eyes, rend not apart
Follow thy tide; let thee awaken
Twas but a daydream enshrined in thy heart
Rest now inside thyself, let thy sun arise
Thou art deserving without thy silent guise
Drifting illusory waves are but a dream
Emerald land greets thee beyond thy soft stream
Look thee within as thy folded blossom
Lovingly sighs in crystal bright dew
Open thy eyes, count not thy losses
Let thee embrace now the sunlight anew
I wanted to write something both lyrically and musically that could encapsulate the medicine and philosophy of the "Song of Healing". I'm a little bit self conscious about my voice, as I have poor breath control on most days (it took me months before I could get takes that sounded even this good). However, I think that this is meant to be a kind of tender and "flawed" piece of music in some ways, so that made it easier for me to post this. On top of that, a good friend of mine (who is an avid Zelda fan) has recently been dealing with some incredibly difficult medical problems, so I got to work on this much sooner than originally planned as a sort of "get well soon" present. The lyrics are about psychological health, finding inner peace, discarding illusions and freeing oneself from regrets. It's also about learning to care for oneself, in doing so, taking the time to treat oneself with honour, tenderness and love.
