Sonic Advance - Game Boy Advance (2001)
Those pauses are pauses of genuine confusion. The Sonic games always did have ways of slowing your roll, but some of the designs just make you want to scratch your head. Like...at the first pause I'm at a spring that goes....nowhere? It serves no purpose except to maybe get on a platform you have to get lucky to time just right. The second major pause is me trying every button I can find to see if there's a chargeable ball and....no. Nothing like that. Which made me even more confused because certain half pipes really seem meant for a charge ball.
These frustrations really slow down an otherwise great looking game. It plays well enough, looks great, runs smooth, and despite its small size it gives you about the same FOV as the console counterparts. The little annoyances take away from an otherwise great experience.
