Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing - Pinball Highway Single Race with Big the Cat
This video, like the single race video for Jump Parade, was recorded on May 28th, but I had not gotten around to uploading it until now. I simply have not felt like uploading it for some time, strangly. I've been attending to a summer course for June to early July, so I haven't taken the time to record other Single Race videos for uploading, but I wll certainly do so for July.
Big the Cat is considerbly a joke character put in for the humerous reason of a large fellow riding on a tiny motorcycle (I have heard that some of the Sumo Digital team members were highly fond of him). However, he is the worst character in my consideration, as his poor stats overall make it difficult to turn effectively around corners, his turbo boost build-up takes long (and his starting boost has a very narrow time frame to start it to make it work), and his turbo boost speed is perhaps the lowest of all the playable characters. However, with the right professionalism, he can be mastered and it's possible to win races in any situation with him. He ended up being the first character that I would use an All-Star power-up for these videos, which could be the first of multiple.
Pinball Highway is a very straightforward track, but there are plenty of opportunities for gaining turbo boosts from turns around the course. Depending on the drifting ability of the character (and player skill), the split-path bend at the beginning could provide benefits of turbo-boosting from the left, right, or both pathways. The pathway after the vertical upshoot provides a major chance to gain turbo boosts from turns, but adjusting accordingly to the turbo boosters on the ground is the most optimal. Drifting on the pinball table in either left or right traveling is best done with adjustment to get items and turbo boosters on the ground along the way. The fastest way to get through the bend where casino chips provide a hazard is driving near the right-sided curb, but protection from the chips is highly recommended.
This was recorded from the Nintendo Wii version of the game. The Wii Wheel control scheme was used, and the track was set onto three laps and the Advanced difficulty.
