SONIC and SEGA are BANNED NAMES in Uniracers (SNES) - Retrogaming Easter Eggs #shorts
0In Uniracers for the Super Nintendo, the game filters out certain words when you're entering a new name for your Uniracer. You might think this filter is in place to block foul language, but there's a little more to it than just that.
Now obviously potty mouth words like the F word are not allowed, so when you go to name your unicycle something vulgar, the game will often say that your name is "NOT COOL ENOUGH" and it won't let you use that particular name.
However, other No No words include SEGA and SONIC. The game won't let you use these names because this game came out in the early 1990s which was back in the height of the Sega/Nintendo rivalry! Isn't that petty?
Furthermore, certain "occult references" cannot be used such as SATAN and... I couldn't really find anything else like that, but that's what I've read. Also certain racial slurs can slip right by the censors. Yikes!
