We start the game off proper and first thing we come across is a skill system though we have nothing worthwhile at first to equip. You'll also notice that at the start Sonic is, ironically, horribly slow at the start, so don't expect to get any decent ranks at the end of the stages... you may not even get ranked sometimes...
