Zone 2 is better than Zone 1, thanks to a much easier to find Transporter (right at the beginning!) and some more cooler gimmicks. Time traveling here can be difficult, but you can do so easily by spin dashing off the top of the device at the beginning so it doesn't rocket you off of the cliff. You can then find the Past sign right next to the Transporter and also have plenty of room to time travel off the cliff.
The Metal Sonic Projector is right under the start of the big spinning poles area. It's a bit tricky to find, but keep bouncing around there and you should fall right on top of it.
