No save states were used in this recording except for the final boss, due to the pinheaded decision to make the final phase a one-hit kill. Admit it, you would've done it too.

Despite what you'd assume, the Master System release of Sonic Chaos wasn't a port of the Game Gear version, rather it was the other way around according to the earliest Game Gear prototype, which didn't have its screens adjusted for the lower resolution yet.

That being said, the Master System version is dated a month older than the Game Gear port, and thus lacks some additional polish; the character select lacks unique graphics, Miles Prower is misspelled as "Miles Power" in the credits, and some of the music is less advanced (Gigalopolis' music here is literally just a synthesizer demo track). By no means a deal breaker, however.

This is actually the first game which allows players to fly as Tails, although it functions differently, needing to start at a stand still and pressing the jump button while looking up, and up/down movement being controlled with up/down rather than whenever the player presses jump. Combined with him not needing to collect the emeralds and starting with 4 continues, he practically destroys whatever challenge remains in this version.
