To celebrate by 18th birthday... I'm starting this, a playthrough of Castlevania: Dracula X for the Super Nintendo; Konami's attempt at porting Rondo of Blood (TurboGrafx CD) to a console westerners actually owned, while still biding by the exclusivity agreements they signed with NEC.

While some of the concepts were brought over such as item crashes and a few enemies, the game is more or less its own entity, and is also *hella* hard even for Castlevania standards (and not for good reasons). Even when not including the difficulty, Dracula X is often derided as a lesser Rondo of Blood due to cutting Maria as a playable character and removing the branching paths, and is only really played by those curious to see how we experienced Rondo fo Blood for the first time.
