Don't blink, or you'll miss them. Apparently so did the Youtube Thumbnail feature.

The first batch of bosses go down in, sometimes literally a couple of seconds.
This is probably the shortest Sonic game in existance, with a stage taking on average 30-45 seconds to complete. That's not just the first couple of levels, that's the entire game. It's almost shocking how short the stages are.

There are only a couple of challenging spots (mostly for cheap reasons: See Electric Egg Zone and it's "hold the wrong direction and die" segments.), with what difficulty there is coming from things such as bad controls (The entire game is on ICE apparently.), small screensize and odd collision detection. Oh and lots of slowdown. Seriously this game doesn't even get scrolling right, why does that cause it to slow down!?
The Chaos Emeralds are easy to get to (collect 100 rings), but some of the special stages themselves may take a few attempts.

It's not a bad game by any stretch of the imagination... but Sonic 1 8bit and Triple Trouble were much better games.

Boss Notes:

1) ... no comment.

2) This boss can kill you quite easily, but it's generally dead before it can get it's second attack in, so if you have rings, there's no worry here. It has a whopping 3 hit points, so to take it out quickly, stand near where it spawns and jump when it appears.

3) It's attacks are hard to dodge, but if you can jump, and stay on top of the thing, it can't hurt you. In fact, if you get it center to it's hit box, then it won't move what-so-ever. Attack from behind if it comes to it.

4) Jump on this thing straight away and hold right, you should continue to bounce off it. Watch where it disembark - you should do the same - after a while, it's shot will hit you for no good reason what-so-ever at this point.

5) The first "challenge" of the game. Spindash will take care of the Badniks that try to rush you, when the boss finally arrives, do not, under any circumstances attack from the front, otherwise it'll launch a fireball in your direction, probably killing you in the process. Attempt to stay on top of it, trying to stick to the front half of it's head and lure it to the left. When it's in a corner, it'll stay there, no longer being much of a threat at all.
When it dies - it has a trump card - it'll launch missiles. This took me by suprise the first time I played this game.
Jumping is not a good idea here, as these things will hit you regardless of if your in a ball or not. (I know, they look destructable don't they?) After six missiles, it'll come back down - hit it now to take it out for good.

6) Ah. Robotnik. Like most of the 8bit final bosses, this one is tricky, and the poor controls don't help matters.
There's a trick to this battle: When you're in front of Robotnik, he'll launch a fireball forward. When you're behind, he'll launch a rebounding laser.
The laser is the most likely thing to kill you, but a general thing to bare in mind, is to stay on top of Robotnik. Whilst bouncing off him, (here's the tricky bit) keep on the left side of him if possible and disembark right when he's close to the left side of the screen. When he fires the laser jump over him, (this, is also tricky as the collision detection here is horrendous) and under the beam.
He'll eventually fall, leading to form 2.
You have to land a single hit here, and he can only be hurt from the top. If you hit him anywhere else (or he hits you) it spells instant death, regardless of whether you have power rings or not.
It's easier to nail him on the first pass than it is on the other ones. If you don't think you can make it, don't risk it. Remember: Instant Death!

Well.. that's Sonic Chaos. Not that hard a Sonic game, and a really short one to boot. All Chaos Emeralds were obtained during this run, and I might make a video showing the Emerald levels at a later date (as they're tougher than the rest of the game!)

Hope you enjoyed this (brief) boss video!

To stop fanboy whining (you know who you are) I've put the Japanese names in the Video itself, and American names in the Annotations.
