1. Go to windows explorer browser
2. Go to your Program files located in your computers Hard Drive
3. Go find your Steam folder located in your Program files
4. Go to Steam apps
5. Go to Common
6. Go to Sonic Generations
7. Delete Audio.cfg, GraphicsConfig.cfg, and StatsConfig.cfg
8. Go back to Steam
9. Run the Configuration tool
10. Put in the setting you want
11. Save and Quit
12. Run Sonic Generations

If none of that worked please try this:
Go to the game EXE. Right click and go to properties. Then go to the compatibility tab and check "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" Then select
"Windows XP Service Pack:3" Save then apply.

Your game should now be working.
