Sonic Generations - Shadow the Hedgehog Boss (Hard Mode)
38The second mid boss, and talk about vertical difficulty spike! Also - this battle is genius. I loved it! You can probably tell, im not as good at Modern Sonic as I am at Classic Sonic. Still, S Rank and a decent time. Not bad, considering I don't know the game at all yet.
This is one of the strangest Sonic the Hedgehog bosses I've ever fought. Fun though. Utter blast to play.
Do yourselves a favour whilst playing this game - and turn off tutorials. No. Really. Do it. Right now. The feeling you get when you figure out what to do is just such a rush. I have missed the days of gaming where you weren't told what to do. And Sega went and GAVE YOU THE OPTION. DO IT.
Also no more Omaochao. Win Win!
For those that can't get what's going on the basic gist behind this battle is this: Beat Shadow to the Energy Spheres. On Normal, you have to do this twice, on Hard, you have to do this three times.
You can knock Shadow off course, but you can't defeat him like you did in Sonic Adventure 2.
If Shadow collects three Spheres, you're in for a world of hurt, and the battle takes alot longer. (You've also lost your S rank.)
As soon as YOU collect three Spheres - you enter Pinch mode.
You MUST do this portion PERFECTLY, otherwise Shadow will avoid you, and the battle continues.
When in pinch mode - collide with all the meteors, sending them into Shadow, which will slow him down. When Shadow is within range, move into him - you'll quickly deplete his rings, and soon he'll go down. And a Chaos Emerald is now yours!
Hard Mode lives up to it's name in this fight. On normal, there are more ramps for you to perform tricks (and therefore increase your boost) - on Hard - only one of these remain. You'll just have to get good at dodging Shadow.
The best way to beat Shadow is to learn the course, and where the Sphere goes.
All in all. This was a brilliant boss fight. Bonus points for re-using Live and Learn and (if Shadow starts pwning your ass) All Hail Shadow during the Pinch modes. Brilliant.
