Heroes Power Plant is a level editor for Sonic Heroes and Shadow the Hedgehog. In this video, I'll explain how to extract models from both games with textures and vertex colors. You can get the most recent version of it here: https://github.com/igorseabra4/HeroesPowerPlant
Heroes Power Plant requires .NET Framework 4.7.2 and DirectX 11 to run.

A few questions you may have:
Q: Why is Power Plant not opening for me?
A: Heroes Power Plant requires DirectX 11 (make sure it's up to date) and .NET Framework 4.7.2 to run.
Q: Does this only work with 3ds Max?
A: For importing vertex colors, yes, and as you may see in the video, they are very important to make the models look as good as they do ingame. However, you can import the models to any model editor which supports the OBJ format, they just won't retain the vertex colors. You can, though, import the models with vertex colors to 3ds Max and then export them to Blender or another 3D model editor using DAE or FBX, formats which normally do contain vertex colors.
Q: What are vertex colors?
A: They are a resource used in 3D modeling to ease creating stuff such as lightning and shadow effects, specially on older consoles. You can live without them, but many models will look really bland without them.
Q: How do I know the file names for the levels?
A: https://github.com/igorseabra4/HeroesPowerPlant/wiki/Level-List
Q: Do I need to add the textures to Power Plant for them to be exported to the models?
A: No. You can export the untextured models, and as long as the textures are in the same folder of the OBJs, they will be imported.
Q: Does this only work with the XBOX and GameCube versions of Shadow?
A: Yes. No plans for PS2 support right now.
Q: You showed us how to get collision models from Shadow . How about the ones from Heroes?
A: That's the subject for a different video.
