Sonic Mania: Zany's Playthrough Part 1
2Enjoy! Ol' pot belly's back for another mixed ga-- oh wait. This Sonic game is actually being loved by many people for a change? Huh. Guess it'll do no good to do my usual Sanic shtick here. Still gotta go fast and go pro. Totally pro Sonic gameplay here as I'm the best professional Sonic player in the world (heh heh)!
Made by the fans, for the fans, to be a platformer that everyone can enjoy, Sonic Mania has come to truly deliver on what gamers have been really craving for with the blue hedgehog in a long time. The thing for me however... is that I actually never played a classic 2-D Sonic game before this in my life. The closest thing like so that I played in recent memory was Freedom Planet. So I went into this game merely looking for a good platformer and to see what I had missed out on due to my family not owning a Sega Genesis for the first few games this game took a great load from and then some. It didn't leave the best first impression with the classic trappings from the old games creeping up (like the very strict collision with the "ceiling" deaths) and leaving a sour taste in my mouth, but I did come to really like it in subsequent playthroughs and can see myself coming back to playing it often with its great replay value!
For this playthrough, I chose to use Sonic solo in Mania mode (the campain of the game). In order to use the "& Knuckles" setting (now with oh-noing action!), I had to go with the no save option. So once I got a satisfactory start, I had to commit to the whole playthrough with only some stage runs having a few attempts in order for them to look decent enough to me. Also you'll find out why soon enough, but although I go through whatever Giant Rings I come across, I don't collect all the chaos emeralds until the final zone. Hope you like this playthrough.
