This game plays on the scrapped prototype material of Sonic the Hedgehog, such as canned designs and unused level imagery. All of the art is original, excluding certain fundamental features like Sonic, which are edits. The game also features an original soundtrack.
The design philosophy of Sonic Overture, in terms of style, levels, and gameplay, are based on the first Sonic the Hedgehog. We have sought to enhance this design philosophy to go beyond what the first game ever did, while keeping to the spirit of it, with a bit of our own vision as well.
