▼▼▼ FULL RUN EXPLANATION BELOW ▼▼▼

unbelievably good luck. I spent the last couple of streams grinding this category again and finished lots of low 12s but I didnt think I'd suddenly get one this good. After I got my last WR I initially thought I'd be done with the category as going against a run with 2 clipouts in Radiant Emerald would be too ridiculous, but I quickly realized that I would be able to still beat it on a really good run with a single RE skip. So I went back into the grind and after a couple of sessions I got this. Am I done now? I don't know, we shall see. I must say though, I like this PB much more than the last one, despite it being less eventful. But this run is just unbelievably solid with no glaring mistakes so its much closer to what I'd want an ideal run to look like

Goal:
To 100% this game, in each track, you have to collect 5 Sonic emblems and 1 to 2 chaos emeralds. If you win the race with all Sonic emblems, you unlock a challenge race, in which you race one new character that you unlock if you beat them. Getting all 7 chaos emeralds unlocks Super Sonic. The goal of the run is therefore to win all races and unlock all characters. Dr. Robotnik is unlocked upon winning Radiant Emerald. Since you do each track twice, on the first go you go across the track and collect everything, and on the second go you just beat the race as quickly as possible.

Characters:
1. Knuckles is the best out of the starting characters, since he has both good speed and handling, and is also able to do the corner clips
2. Metal Knuckles is able to hop over water without losing any speed, and is also able to do the corner clips
3. Metal Sonic is also able to hop over the water, but can't do the corner clips. This is not needed for Regal Ruin, because the clip in this level works differently. I switch from Metal Knuckles to Metal Sonic in this level because Metal Sonic has sharper turning, which makes the out of bouds circling to trigger the laps much faster
4. Super Sonic because he's the fastest

Routing:
I do Reactive Factory first, because the fastest ring route is highly dependent on ring RNG from the emblems you pick up throughout the race, therefore the executing the fastest route is the least consistent here. Also Reactive Factory unlocks Metal Knuckles, who I need for the following levels.

Sliding:
Any time you get into a slide, you gain extra speed. A lot of times you use walls to get into drifts, such as using wallbumps to start a drift, or sliding along straight walls to keep in a drift. There is also a technique called counterdrifting, where you press the drift button opposite to the direction youre facing while drifting. This is more difficult to apply than a normal drift, but lets you carry speed for longer

Skips:
The clips I use in Reactive Factory, Resort Island and Radical City are all inconsistent and getting them quickly is very luck dependent. To get them, you have to wiggle in these specific corners back and forth while drifting. Getting a good feel for the angles can improve your chances, but overall it's inconsistent. These clips DO NOT work on the PC version the way I do them here. The clip in Regal Ruin is consistent and works by doing a small jump into the correct spot on the banked turn and you will fall through. Once you're out of bounds, you have to line yourself up next to the finish line and cross it close to the boundary of the track without clipping back in, and turning back past it without touching so you can cross it again. The clips I got in Radical City Challenge Race and Radiant Emerald are completely random and have a really small chance of happening. You just slide into the wall with high speed and maybe the game will clip you through. The one in RC was a minor timesave, as usually I would just go down to the ring gate and clip there like in the previous split, the one in RE is a 13 second timesave over doing the stage inbounds

Weather:
You can change the weather in the game's settings. For Inbounds / glitchless / no out of bounds runs, you use "Snow" weather, because all the water freezes and you can run over it. However, in Out of Bounds runs, you need to set "Clear" weather, because with snow, the corner clips do not work. The clear weather is also the reason this category is routed to use the Metal characters, as they can deal with the water the best

Cutscene skips:
If you press start just when the screen fades out when the game transitions from the race to the victory cutscene, you have a small time window to pause the game and exit. This skips the victory cutscene, which takes roughly 7-8 seconds. It is not difficult to hit consistently with practise, as the frame window isn't very tight and you have a very good cue for when to press Start.
