When we last left Sonic, he'd stopped Robotnik & save the forest critters...
2 years later...
Sonic & Tails are cruising along passing through a mysterious jungle ridden island. Until they are attacked by a seemingly new threat, Knuckles the Echidna.
After knocking Sonic out of his super form & stealing the chaos emeralds, Knuckles speeds off, all the while, an enormous aircraft is hovering above the island, piloted by Dr. Robotnik.
Sonic must now track this new threat, recollect the chaos emeralds, & figure out what is Robotnik's stake in all of this.
