Over lockdown I bought myself a Game Gear. I had one as a kid but the only Sonic game I had on it was the first game, having played 2 and Chaos on my brother's Master System. I also picked up Sonic Triple Trouble on the 3DS eshop, and as a consequence, having played through the Game Gear versions of Sonic 1, Sonic 2 (to a point, I don't like it), Sonic Chaos, and Sonic Triple Trouble in a the space of less than a year, they've all kind of blurred in to one

So, as to how accurate this remake is to the original I couldn't say, but I can say that it's a very good game in its own right and you should give it a try
