After a pretty lousy on-stream session of SADX Knuckles that I quit early, I decided to instead sit down again and try to finish my unfinished business with this level, having been stuck on the 33 for a looooong time. There's an inherent difficulty to getting a clean run of this level as it hinges on 2 finnicky tricks, the setupless ice block break and the loop ceiling zip. However, when it comes to optimizing, the focus shifts more towards making sure every jump in platforming and every spindash setup is as immediate as it can be, and that the game doesn't drop any inputs when trying to ceiling jump for extra speed in the laggy ice tunnels. This level has a lot of these elements, so it gets an extra layer of mildly irritating difficulty and inconsistency on top of what already makes this the most punishing level for single segment runs. That being said though, the amount of time it took me to get this time was wildly disproportionate to the relative ease with which I was able to get 33s, so there was definitely also a huge mental barrier at play here, or perhaps I have also been cursed by a mischievous magical forest creature. Impossible to say for sure
