Sonos has updated its most portable speaker, the Sonos Roam. Roam 2 has simplified Bluetooth connectivity, a more discreet design and updated controls.
First, the Sonos Roam 2 can be connected to a Bluetooth device without having to set it up on your home Wi-Fi beforehand. This means that you can listen to music from your mobile device as soon as the Roam 2 is charged, without the need to set up in a proprietary app, as is done with almost all other Bluetooth speakers.
The Roam 2 has a dedicated Bluetooth button to connect - previously this was done by holding down the power button for a certain amount of time. The Sonos logo is now monochrome, meaning it's the same color as the device, making it less noticeable. This is the same design approach as the Sonos Ace headphones.
In addition, the column has practically not changed compared to the previous model. Sonos promises the same sound (which, depending on the type of connection and Wi-Fi, the speaker plays better), Trueplay technology to optimize the audio for your environment, 10 hours of battery life and IP67 waterproofing. The speaker is now available in four colors (Olive, Sunset, Wave, Black and White), while the original model was only available in two.
As with the first generation, wireless charging is supported.
