At the time of writing, Sons Of The Forest has become the third most popular game on Steam, with 265,000 players concurrently playing it. This is quite impressive, considering that the game only came out a little over three hours ago. The game's popularity may have even caused Steam to crash.

Originally, Sons Of The Forest was scheduled to launch at 5 pm GMT, but the launch got delayed. Coincidentally, Steam experienced rare downtime during that period, as shown by the spike of reported outages on Downdetector. With 265,000 players trying to download and play the game simultaneously, it's possible that even Valve's servers couldn't handle the traffic.
