If you're good, you'll get some sidequests involving Groh after the main story. They only appear after you complete some Astral Fissures, so you'll have to do a bit of grinding for them. There's also a trophy for clearing 30 Astral Fissures, so you may as well if that interest you. There's also a sidequest involving Raphael, and giving him some of Azwel's notes that you would have discovered in another sidequest earlier on.

Now, for the big one. First we get a sidequest to fight Zasalamel and the only thing we have to do is survive his attacks for long enough until the timer runs down. That ones easy. But his next fight he's in permanent Soul Charge, starts with 2 Soul Gauge he can use at will, is level 75, and has the highest AI. This is largely considered the hardest fight in the entire game and I am very inclined to agree. This Zasalamel is basically like fighting Abyss in SC3, if he read your button inputs even more and had a super attack he could bust out at any given moment. I easily spent the most time fighting him and probably had about 30 straight minutes of just repeatedly losing to the guy.

Something I noticed about the AI around this time, however, was that they REALLY rely on reading your button inputs. If you don't input a button they sometimes won't do anything so you can wait for them to attack first, which in term leaves them open. It's why sometimes you'll see me suddenly not attack because I want to take the chance to cheese the AI that is effectively cheesing the player by input reading. It works more often than not. I also wish I went into this fight with a better weapon, food items equipped, and maybe even a mercenary to start things off with. Anything would have helped and made this fight even slightly easier could mean the difference between 30 minutes of losing an a 2 minute victory.

Now, after defeating Zasalamel there's a lot of hidden plot points he drops on you, involving Algol, the Conduit, and his own plans. Since he explains it all I won't reiterate it here, but it's interesting stuff and I personally really like Algol so I can't wait to see him return to SC. I'd settle for DLC or just being the next big bad in SC7.
