Sour Gas #OrBust! Part 39: Sap Tree Strikes Back (ONI: Spaced Out!)
1This VOD is the 39th part of my rebooted long-term Sour Gas Boiling play-through for Oxygen Not Included! In this video, we land a manned mission to the Tungsten asteroid and get two Bionic Duplicants to work. After digging out the main top region of the asteroid and installing some Solar Panels, we quickly realise radiation is going to be a problem between the relatively high base Rad levels and our proliferation of Wheezeworts we are using to deal with the Slimelung germs. So we build some extra tiles to block the space radiation, but unfortunately we still get some radiation vomiting. Thankfully with the Somnium Synthesiser and the installation of some recreational items we are able to get Morale to a high enough point to avoid too many problems. We set up tamers for the two Infectious Polluted Oxygen Vents and investigate Experiment 52B: a tree that eats food, produces Sap, and attacks duplicants! This Sap will eventually allow us to make Visco-Gel and Insulite, two advanced building materials that might be very helpful in future... Cycles 732-742 are in this video.
The aim of this run is for me to execute my plans from my Water recycling videos ( • How To Recycle Water Forever in Oxygen Not... and • How To Recycle Water EVEN HARDER in Oxygen... ) and build a completely sustainable and well-organised colony with zero inputs. But first this means I'll need to explore our asteroid, set up a normal base first, and get some industry going. This is going to be a longer-than-usual run, and I'm hoping to explore the rest of the Spaced Out content that I never got around to here too. We may occasionally interrupt it with short challenges.
