Space Engineers autopilot script test 2
Retrofitted my large mining ship with a mining-assist script based off of my autopilot library. In this video I fly it through the same trajectory that was used to previously dig a tunnel just barely big enough for the ship to fit.
The script will rotate the ship, align it onto the line of travel, and move it along the line at a specified speed.
It is not aware of the asteroid itself however, so you need to be careful about not giving it a flight path that might cause it to bump into it as it tries to get back onto the line of travel. Also, apparently the narrow margins make it very difficult, even for the computer-controlled pilot, to clear all the walls of the hole. You can notice moderate damage to the hull of the ship from previous speeds where I was working out just how quickly you can fly through these holes.
