Speaking Out Against YouTube and A Message To Smaller Content Creators
This is probably going to get all kinds of backlash, but YouTube is not a place to be if you’re a small content creator, because as it stands right currently, YouTube will essentially sandbag you and your videos if you don’t follow the specific guidelines that they’ve been setting, or if you don’t bend over and follow their algorithm. As someone who just wants to entertain people with his content, this isn’t very good. As you all know, I do gaming content and some voice acting, to an extent. But the entertainment of mine and several other small content creators are not being seen by the probably trillions of folks around the world, because YouTube only shows people what they think we want to see, or what kids/teenagers want to see, like clickbait Fortnite/PUBG videos. Let’s not even get into the other horrid stuff that YouTube has allowed on their platform (such as the whole Elsagate incident…). I remember a time where YouTube used to be awesome. When many up-and-coming folks could broadcast themselves and not be afraid to do so. That’s what I’m trying to do. But nowadays, if you aren’t a blond pretty boy celebrity literally exploiting suicide for profit and submitting a half-assed apology for it, then you will get nowhere. I personally think that is just wrong; I simply want to make people laugh and smile from the videos I make. Back in the day, we didn’t have to worry about an algorithm dictating what we can and cannot do or say. We could show our talents and actually be noticed!
And you. Yes, you, the person watching this right now. You have talent. You can share it with the world. You can Broadcast Yourself, which was the entire point of YouTube to begin with. So, if you’re a small content creator like me, fight back. Be yourself. Don’t be afraid to show your talent; who cares if the algorithm doesn’t pick it up? There are people out there who will like what you produce. Never give up and don’t give in to what YouTube wants you to do. You be you. Now, get out there and Broadcast Yourself!
