Spear of Destiny (1992) · Original Soundtrack · MS-DOS AdLib / OPL2
Spear of Destiny, an action first-person shooter developed by id Software and published by FormGen in 1992, throws you into the role of B.J. Blazkowicz during World War II.
The Nazis have stolen the Spear of Destiny, believed to grant invincibility to its wielder, and secured it within Castle Wolfenstein. Hitler, emboldened by the Spear's power, threatens to conquer Europe, and your mission is to infiltrate the heavily guarded fortress and retrieve the artifact.
The game utilizes the same engine and gameplay mechanics as Wolfenstein 3D, presenting a non-episodic, continuous series of levels filled with familiar enemies and weapons. However, Spear of Destiny introduces new bosses, a new enemy type, and an additional ammo pickup to enhance the experience. As you navigate the treacherous castle, you'll confront increasingly challenging foes and navigate labyrinthine corridors. Successfully recovering the Spear from Hitler could be the turning point in the war, but failure means certain doom.
The game features a soundtrack by Robert Prince, whose compositions amplify the intensity of the action and the ominous atmosphere of Castle Wolfenstein.
