Fix Metal Slug 2 slowdown by using FBNEO options in RetroArch in this short video guide. It makes arcade games much more responsive, and can speed up a few titles making this the definitive way of playing some of the classic games, like the Metal Slug series!
We also explain how to use DIPSWITCHES for NEOGEO games so we can change difficulty options, and disable censorship in games like Metal Slug and The King of Fighters.
This guide will work on pretty much most systems that use RetroArch. Handhelds with EmuELEC, ArkOS, AmberELEC, or even full-blown PC or even Raspberry Pi setups (Batocera, RetroPie, etc)

If you want to lower system latency further, you can use some other options, such as "run ahead" from within RetroArch. Your mileage may vary as these settings use more system resources than the method in this video.
