Soooo slow. I really didn't want to run this version, but I don't think there's any other recording of it anywhere on YouTube right now. So here it is documented.
The most important speedrunning feature of the MSX2 version other than the terrible slowness is that RNG manips are possible. Here, I steal from the shops in Britian in a specific pattern that gives me exactly the equipment I need to buy the raft immediately. It also seems to be impossible to get the wrong key when rescuing princesses.
I did notice during the course of this run that the attack rolls against guards when rescuing princesses seem to always be the same based on your step count when entering the castle, so it would probably be possible to find a manip to optimize the number of turns required for that. Other useful manips may be possible as well. I don't think there's a good way to manip the dungeon spawns or space layout, though, as far as I've found.
I did make a couple of small errors and took some safeties, but I also got excellent RNG in the dungeon and in space, so that probably balances out. One could definitely save a lot of time by turning off sound, but I wanted to get a recording that captures the audio of the game initially at least. I also lost time by not having enough moves before reaching the transportation shop to buy the shuttle, and not having a good plan for how to fix that issue. Maybe one day I'll try a more optimal run with sound off; we'll see.
This route was originally devised by organMike for the DOS version.
Played on a Panasonic FS-A1WX using a Carnivore 2 cartridge as a virtual disk drive. Since this is Flash memory-based device, the load times are probably a bit faster than they would be with physical floppies. Captured with a RetroTink 2X-SCART. Final time determined by counting frames in Avidemux.
