[Speedrun] Swapette Showdown (Alpha) - Story Mode to Tera (Demo) in 87.19 seconds
Swapette Showdown is a Puzzle League clone that went into closed alpha this week and is poised for a Steam release in 2019. Check out the Steam page here where you can learn how to sign up for the closed alpha: https://store.steampowered.com/app/862900/Swapette_Showdown/
If you join their Discord, even though there is no formal online mode, there is a guide for playing local multiplayer through a connection to another PC with the game even if you are not part of the closed alpha. I've already had a lot of fun playing the game this way so I think it's worth checking out.
In the demo of the story mode that is currently available, there are only three opponents to beat. Upon reaching the last opponent, Tera, she states that she heard about your exploits of beating up Swapettes (the general term for all of the characters). Your character, Momoko, remarks that she just started doing that not too long ago. Tera clarifies to the centisecond (ex. 142.69 seconds ago, to be precise) with her l33t h4xx0r skillz. Yes, the game tracks precisely how long it takes you to get to that point.
Some in the community decided to make a meme, of sorts, of how quickly they can get to that point. Multiple people posted their screenshots of the times that Tera gave to them, the fastest I had seen being 95.59 seconds by rektbykakarot. Since speedrunning of Puzzle League games is what I do, I decided to put my best foot forward and speedrun this "challenge."
After about a half-hour of actual gameplay, I did this. The CPU is not meant to be very advanced at this point so big chains--sorry, cascades (I'm going to screw that up multiple times)--are the way to go. I do wonder at times, though, if I'm wasting time activating Momoko's special at the end or if I actually need that extra garbage to win. It'll be something to explore as the story mode goes further in development. -- Watch live at https://www.twitch.tv/cardsoftheheart
