As his repeated failures to capture Spider-Man have failed, Oscorp's board of executives starts to move towards terminating Norman Osborn. Unwilling to let that happen, he makes his way into the company's laboratory and forces the lead researcher of the super soldier serum developed by the company to administer the finished dose of the serum's current form to him in an impromptu human trial with the researcher complying after Norman threatens to fire him. After being dosed with the gaseous form of the serum, Norman apparently dies only to wake up with enhanced strength and reflexes, proceeding to arm himself with Oscorp's state-of-the-art armor and weaponry.

Meanwhile, Peter Parker is attending the parade in Manhattan and doing his job as a journalist while also observing his love intrest, Mary-Jane Watson, and his best friend Harry Osborn as they observe the parade. However, just then, a mysterious man donning a goblin-like high-tech armor and utilizing equally advanced glider and explosive weaponry, attacks the parade, forcing Peter to suit up and after rescuing Mary-Jane, who was left stranded on one of the parade balloons, engages the mysterious man in a violent aerial fight over Manhattan...
