Splatoon 3: Hero Mode Part 78 (True Final Challenge): After Alterna (& Log.exe)
5After beating every other level in Return of the Mammalians, you unlock a final extra gauntlet of a stage to go through known as After Alterna.
It is the kettle at the exact same spot of Future Utopia Island where your new Agent 3 first fell to from the Crater.

After Alterna is split into 4 different and difficult sections, each with their own challenges and goals. Checkpoints will be very scarce here, as you will usually only get one per section to start each of them with.
I had trimmed down some of my tries through this in the video for time.

The first section is an obstacle course that combines combating Octarians with clever wall-climbing, taking advantage of this game's new Squid Surge and Squid Roll to maneuver between inked walls.

The second section is a grindrail target test, and probably the hardest one of them all. You have to keep shooting balloons as they appear while you're grinding to continue the rails, AND you'll have to make sure to jump towards them, too. Sometimes, the next balloons won’t appear until you pop previous ones.

The third section depends on you utilizing Smallfry to help you extend Soaker Blocks in order to protect yourself from enemies and carve paths forward towards the final section.

The fourth and final section of this level is an arena match against three waves of Elite Octolings! At times, you will be able to use Special Weapons from canned goods to combat against them, but when Wave 3 hits, those Octolings will start using Specials of their own!
And some of YOUR Specials will be better against them than others!
If you can clear this fourth section, you will finally reach the goal and beat After Alterna, and more or less complete Alterna once and for all!

Your reward for this is the final Alterna Log: Log.exe. A very important log that covers one last crucial thing about Alterna's modern state...
The humans that attempted to survive the Earth's apocalypse through Alterna's caves were not the only survivors. A group of them also escaped through a giant rocket ship called the Ark Polaris. The Ark Polaris contained many of Earth's species in a deep hibernation state. The goal of this rocket was to have it search for a planet to replace the ruined Earth with for its inhabitants.
This had failed, however, once debris hit the Ark Polaris when it reached the edge of the solar system. The crew of this rocket were forced to return to Earth for safety (as little safety as there was left to have on Earth, that is), but the rocket ran out of fuel for a safe landing. It was instead forced to drift aimlessly through space for 10,000 years...
After 10,000 years, the Earth's gravity finally pulled the Ark Polaris towards it, but the intense heat from reentry ended up claiming the lives of all of them...
...all except for one single bear: Bear #03. He spent 12,000 years desiring to make his dream a reality...
But things got sour for him when he learned that he was the last mammal on Earth. Earth was now dominated by sea creatures.
Bear #03 eventually managed to find the ruined Alterna, as well as its liquid crystals. His research in these crystals led him allowing them to merge with his fur. This created a new menacing substance that he called Fuzzy Ooze, and can turn any living thing it touches into a full-furred mammal.
This bear was eager to use the Fuzzy Ooze to create new mammals for the Earth, but he needed a plan to do this quickly and efficiently... He needed Golden Eggs to help with this.
So he founded a company that would pay employees to gather those Golden Eggs for him. Golden Eggs that he would load into Alterna's rocket...
This company would be known as Grizzco Industries, and Bear #03 would rename himself to Mr. Grizz.
Countless Inklings and Octolings would have no idea of their mysterious employer's true plans with the Golden Eggs... and somehow... they all still didn't know anything after your new Agent 3 of the Squidbeak Splatoon put a stop to Grizz's plans.
So then... I guess one extra question is: *After Mr. Grizz is defeated in Hero Mode, who is still running Grizzco Industries for Salmon Run???*
The answer may be closer than we think. Grizz was not the only mammal in the current Splatoon world…

This concludes my Hero Mode run of Splatoon 3 once and for all. Thank you for watching, but also sorry for taking so long to cover this final part of it.
Besides doing more Multiplayer stuff, all that's left to do now is... wait for the Side Order DLC campaign to finally show up.
