SPONGEBOB SPUDPANTS - Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Playthrough Episode 49
If you can find me someone who claims to love Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Ascension Quests more than me, send them my way and I’ll set them straight. I can’t get enough of these quests, I just think they’re so much fun while also being so revealing to the character the quest is focusing on.
In this episode’s Ascension Quest, we head over to Colony 9 to help Zeon with his attempts at food cultivation, which is quite an uphill battle. This is a group of people who have never cultivated any food, have never even heard of the concept of agriculture, and don’t have the first clue how to start in this endeavor. It’s true that they were given a small amount of guidance in the manual provided by the Consuls, but we all know that the information on growing their own food in there is hardly reliable. There’s no way the Consuls actually wanted them to grow their own food, that would make them too self-sufficient and less able to devote all their attention to the war. The war is the top priority for the Consuls.
Colony 9 has therefore been having trouble figuring out how to grow edible food, the latest crop being bad enough to cause stomach aches and vomiting in those who ate them, leading to bad puns, which was preventable with better farming.
It’s Kite who seems to be taking the helm on the food front and as a result he’s taking everything extremely personally. He was never sold on the food growing to begin with, so now that’s not working, it just seems more obvious to him that this was a bad idea from the start. Zeon is desperate to get this fixed so that he can feed his colony and prove that it wasn’t a bad idea to try to grow their own food.
This is how we end up taking Zeon and Kite to Colony Tau to meet Juniper. Colony Tau have been successfully growing their own food for years now, and they are living proof that the practice can be done. And of course, being Juniper, they are more than willing to help them out, despite Kite’s weird combination of attraction and distrust toward them.
Their guidance is invaluable, and yet, the process is still grueling and continues to be unsuccessful. There seem to be a great number of obstacles standing in the way of these crops actually growing to full size. But the gang is nothing if not persistent, and after a few more tries, it seems there finally might be some progress. I mean what else could possibly go wrong, running into a pack of Landons?
I also decided to really quickly visit Colony 30 once I was done with Colony 9 in order to see if I could offer them more help with their ether debacle. This also gave us the chance to send Pulipuli to Colony Iota, thus finally fulfilling his dream of stalking Alexandria in person. What a lucky little man.
So if you like potatoes, an insane commitment to a cause that everyone else around you has clearly given up on, and/or love at first sight, then this episode of my Xenoblade Chronicles 3 playthrough episode is for you!
