PIRATE’S BOOTY AND SICK TREE ROOTIES - TLoZ Tears of the Kingdom Playthrough Episode 10
One of the most interesting additions to the Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom that was not in Breath of the Wild is the presence of pirates. Unlike in other Zelda games, the pirates are not Gerudo or ragtag groups of Hylian children, no, instead it’s a group of monsters who learned to travel the sea.
I really did not see this particular addition coming. “Bokoblin pirates” was not on my Tears of the Kingdom Bingo Card. But here we are, with monster pirates and a single Link to fight them all. Thankfully for us, it’s Link, so there’s really nothing to worry about.
In this particular instance, the pirates we’re going to be focusing on will be the ones who have decided to make Eventide Island their home. That’s right folks, the island no longer kidnaps you and forces you to strip only to subject you to a series of difficult trials in order to awaken the shrine. Instead, it is the home to a series of monster strongholds, as well as a hidden pirate hideout somewhere on the island.
There is a member of the monster fighting squad who is determined to find where this hideout is. The only problem is that this man is a bit of a coward and he doesn’t want to face the strongholds himself; then, when you tell him that you cleared the strongholds for him, he’s also too afraid to face the hideout. This is pretty classic Zelda NPC and I love him for it.
This episode also found me traveling to another place I have been curious about for quite some time: the Lost Woods. This is the home of the Kokiri Forest, which is home to the Koroks and the Deku Tree. I loved this place in Breath of the Wild and I was excited to see how they made the journey through the Lost Woods different than it was in that game. I could not have predicted how they handled it, and I was actually pretty excited to see that’s how they decided to do things.
Upon getting to the Deku Tree, we notice something is up with him and all the Koroks that live in and around him. There are significant changes to their little village, and it’s devastating to see these little babies not thriving in their forest paradise like they should be.
Of course, the gloom is to blame for it, as it always is in this game, and so it was up to me to be the one to fix the woes of the forest. Fortunately, this was a relatively easy fix, all things considered, and it was not too long until we were talking to the Deku Tree again. And boy, did he give me some very interesting information.
So if you like interesting information, pirates, and/or talking trees, then this episode of the Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is for you!
