SpongeBob SquarePants: The Cosmic Shake Review | A Delightful Dive Into Bikini Bottom & Beyond!
52Spongebob Squarepants is back with another 3D platforming adventure, this time in the form of Spongebob Squarepants: The Cosmic Shake which see's Spongebob and his best friend Patrick Star travel through multiple dimensions, taking out bad guys, collecting new skill and abilities, fighting a variety of different bosses and of course unlocking new outfits to wear all to help save their home of Bikini Bottom.
Join me for my honest in-depth Review of Spongebob Squarepants The Cosmic shake as I go over my impression on the game having completed the main campaign, what I liked about it and also what I didn't like about it.
Developed by Purple Lamp Studios for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S|X, Nintendo Switch and PC Spongebob Squarepants: The Cosmic Shake is a fun filled next evolution from the previous Battle For Bikini Bottom game that any Spongebob Squarepants fan will love, though it does have some short comings.
The Cosmic Shake will see you progress through multiple dimensions each with its own unique theme from The Wild West, A Hollywood Film Set to a Halloween Ghost town and more, all whilst you bump into different versions of fan favourite Spongebob Squarepants characters including Mr Krabs, Squidward, Plankton, Sandy Cheeks and many more.
And while The Cosmic Shake starts off slightly slow and a tad repetitive, it certainly picks things up toward the second half of the game.
Each level introduces something new to the mix whether that's a skill or an ability Spongebob can learn to add to his ever growing move set which then allows him to take out different enemies or to reach places previously inaccessible. Each level also sprinkles in a different gameplay mechanic to keep things fresh and exciting, for instance turning into a snail for a brief platforming section, riding a seahorse, helping films scenes for a movie and plenty more. On top of that every level then also features a boss fight at the end of it each with a new unique twist, though sometimes that can be a bit hit or miss.
Overall Spongebob Squarepants The Cosmic Shake is a fun 3D platformer that give Spongebob Squarepants fans more Spongebob, though it feels like The Cosmic Shake never really pushes the genre forward and plays it a bit too safe where others games in the genre over the last couple of years have tried new things.
