My 4th addition to my "8-bit AIs get'n Owned" playlist, except this time, they're BOTH 8-bit. ;)
So, the Spot AI looks broken... it offers levels 1 through 9, and empirically, the level 9 AI beats the level 1, however, all levels move nearly immediately. This game is basically a reskin of Infection, which (on the C64) does indeed take much more time searching trees on higher AI levels. I tested the AI on as many c64 instances of the SPOT game as I could find. So I'm thinking it's a bug, which makes sense, since much of this port was left incomplete (see the NES or DOS version for a comparison). Not a problem though, since I wanted to pick AI search times that were comparable with Ataxx. Gorgon was the right pick (in contrast to the strongest opponent Cephalo Man, which has noticeable delays before moving).
