Spyro 2: Gulp Boss Battle (Perfect)
12Gulp on the other hand is much, MUCH harder that Crush. It took me about an hour to finally get this. You wouldn't think it at first glance, he only has two basic attacks, and both have very obvious cues, but trust me, if there's any time to use the phrase 'harder than it looks' it's here.
The cannon attack is the main difficulty here; I guarantee it to be cause of 90% of failed runs. The problem is its trajectory is highly random and completely unpredictable. Unlike all other projectile attacks in this game, you can't just Charge and expect not to get hit. It, strangely, functions like most artillery in tabletop wargames: sometimes it'll miss wildly, sometimes it'll be stupidly accurate. Oh, and that blast radius is a bit bigger than it looks. Trust me, it's hard to explain in words just how annoying It is.
The other thing you need to know if you want to master this fight is your three
weapons and when to use them.
Barrels: Very effective if Crush is far away. Simply get behind one, wait for him to charge and headbutt it. He'll run right into it. On the other hand: NEVER, no matter how tempting it is, use one at point-blanc range. That'll kill your run right there.
Bombs: Hands down the worst of the three. Useless unless Crush stands still, which he usually dosen't. If you can catch him while he's firing the cannon, great, but by that time, you should be taking evasive action. Sadly, these seem to be the most common.
Rocket: Grab these whenever you get the chance. Use them up close and you can't miss.
Of course, Gulp can use these too to get additional attacks, but I find none of the three are anywhere near as bad as the cannon anyway, so I won't go into that. And since I don't take damage, no chickens drop, so I don't need to worry about him eating them to regain health (yes, he can do that. Seriously.)
