Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage - Glimmer Redux (Level Mod + SpyroEdit 2.1/Genesis Test)
DOWNLOAD LINK FOR LEVEL BELOW, READ BEFORE DOWNLOADING:
Testing out the recently released SpyroEdit 2.1 which now features the Genesis level editor! This is a very simple edit because using genesis has a tendency to REALLY break some of the levels. I tried to do a few minor edits to this level, mostly moving a lot of gems around but also blocking some double jump locations, making one harder to do, a neat visual edit I've done is all the giant gems are now in a kind of crater in the ground. There are issues that came about from me messing with the level geometry as little as I did, though.
-The area after the bridge in the second part of the level lost it's collision, I tried to work around fixing this but nothing I did really repaired it so i decided to just remove the floor where the lost collision was.
-A gem basket lost it's collision, making the gem in the basket unobtainable. I worked around this by just hacking in 2 gems for you to start with.
-The bridge itself lost it's collision, so I removed Moneybags from the level so that you can't activate the bridge to begin with.
-There is a small possibility that the mini-game where you need to spit rocks at lizards is unable to be completed because the last lizard may spawn out of view.
There are some other minor issues, but nothing that can detract from being able to beat the level. If you'd like to download the level yourself here's a download for the savestate. Just make a savestate for Spyro 2 in your emulator and then replace the savestate with these files: http://www.mediafire.com/file/ge9kinvvb2vlydl/Glimmer%20Redux%20%28Savestate%29.7z
When taking the "Glimmer Redux Challenge" as I would like to call it, be aware of 3 things:
1. This level is a double jump challenge, if you don't know how to use the double jump glitch in this game you won't be able to beat this level
2. This savestate is for the NTSC version of the game, so make sure you're playing that version. The emulator used is ePSXe 2.0.
3. If you lose a life all the gems will be reset to normal positions. So try not to lose a life! Otherwise you'll need to start over!
