Spyro 2 Ripto's Rage!: Part 19: Stone-Smashing Satyr Songs in Fracture Hills
Fracture Hills is home to a bunch of Satyrs and Fauns. The fauns looking a lot different from Elora, and all of them have a valley girl voice.
The Intro has some fauns and pigs dancing along to a Satyr's bagpipe music. Unfortunately, this was also within the hearing range of giant stone men called Earthshapers. One of them gets annoyed with the music so much that he throws a stone at the Satyr, turning him into a stone statue and then laughing at him for it.
For this level's Talisman task, one of the fauns wants you to free all 6 Satyrs from their stone prisons so they can use their bagpipe music to smash through a wall of stone that's sealing in a temple that another faun is trapped in.
The Earthshapers here are huge, and fire won't hurt them, but if you can still charge at them to push them around. They'll only die if you can push them into lava. Watch out for the living bushes that will try to eat you, and the living trees that summon their bees at you, too.
--------------
There are 3 Orbjectives here, but at first, it's kinda awkward when it comes to getting two of them:
1). The first one has nothing to do with the awkwardness I brought up. All you have to do is use the Supercharge to smash open a door to another temple that a faun is trapped in. However you must run through a whole course with this Supercharge before you can actually reach that temple, and if you lose your Supercharge before then, you'll have to go all the way back to get it, again. Break it down and talk to Krista inside and she give you an Orb.
- This is also where the level's Skill Point is. If you can run through the Supercharge powerup in 3 whole laps without losing it, you'll get the Skill Point. I was hoping I could due this AND accomplish the Orbjective involving the Supercharge right afterwards.
2). The second orb involves freeing Hunter's free from stone, because of an Alchemist that was trying to give him gold boots. Talk to Hunter, then talk to the Alchemist to escort him towards Hunter with the potion he has to free his feet.
- This is easier said then done, because he doesn't go straight towards Hunter. He go through a fixed path towards him that takes longer, and has him walk within the attack range of the Earthshapers. The moment they say "HEY!", they're focused on the Alchemist and won't hit you while they are, giving you a change to push them out of his way. This was annoying to me, since standing right behind him isn't always a good idea.
- Let the Alchemist get hit once, and you'll have to start over. Get him to Hunter and Hunter will give Spyro an Orb after he's freed.
3). Irritatingly, I can't get the 3rd Orb right now, because after freeing Hunter for the 2nd Orb, he needs me to learn how to Headbash first before I help with a new task that will get me that Orb. What kinda sucks is that once I do, I have to escort the Alchemist back to him, again, since all missions I do in every level resets for every time I make return trips to them.
So in short, that was a waste of time...
--------------
Back to the Talisman task, after freeing all 6 Satyrs, the temple in the middle of the level will be free enough to enter into to save one more faun, Sheila (That name... why does it... ring a bell?).
She actually wanted to be stuck inside the temple, because she didn't like the Saytrs' music, either. Nonetheless, she rewards Spyro anyway with the level's Talisman: The Bronze Flute.
The Outro has a Faun and pig dancing to the Satyr's music again, while 3 Earthshapers are stuck on a small island surrounded by lava and forced to hear the music. One of them even starts hopping around in place, either because he's about to jump, or because he's actually dancing to the music, himself!
