The Spyro video game series, centered around its titular protagonist, a dragon named Spyro, made its debut in 1998 on Sony's PlayStation with the game "Spyro the Dragon." Over the years, it has seen multiple sequels and a reboot trilogy. Originally under the banner of Sony Computer Entertainment and crafted by Insomniac Games, the series has undergone several transitions in terms of ownership and developers before Activision gained control of the intellectual property in 2008.
