Aphotic City made its first and only appearance in the November/December 2011 OLDC where it came in 7th place with a score of 2.50.

The level received mainly negative reviews for being too similar to City Jump, a level by Brawl that was entered in a previous OLDC (which was also critically panned), massive texture repetition, gas-jet platforming, and being too dark in some areas.
