Cape Gliding is an advanced technique where Mario uses his side special’s unique momentum in order to glide across the edge. Mario could also perform this technique in Brawl. Cape gliding is often used for mind games and movement allowing for edgeguarding mix ups and extensions of combos. To perform this you have to dash off a ledge and perform a side special as Mario is about to go off of the ledge. the timing is tricky takes a lot of practice to get down consistently. Mario can also save his second jump when using this allowing for deep edge guards. It’s also worth noting that you can perform any aerial or special out of a cape glide. When Mario performs this technique the effects of the capes reflector last throughout the entire glide. You can also perform a similar technique called a Cape Dash by reversing the side special as your about to go off the ledge. This allows for advanced mindgames and style.
