Sta-Wet Handy Wet Palette Step Up Tutorial
Are you tired of your paint drying out before you finish your work? Try out a wet palette! A must have for any artist.
Here's a quick tutorial for Masterson's Sta-Wet Handy Palette
Things you will need :
- Mastersons Sta-Wet Handy Palette
- Sponge & Wet Palette Paper (same size as Handy Palette
- Two Pennies
- Towels or Paper Towels
- Boiling Water
- A flat container that can hold boiling water (like a lipped baking sheet)
1. Boil water ( I use a tea kettle in the video)
2. Place palette paper on your flat container, and pour boiling water over it to cover all the paper.
3. Your palette paper will float to the top, so you want to push it down and get all the air bubbles out from underneath. (Be careful the water is hot!)
4. Set a timer for 15 mins and let it soak.
5. While it's soaking, wet your sponge! You want it to be wet, but not dripping wet so ring it out a bit after adding water.
6. Add two pennies to your Handy Palette. (These help keep your sponge from molding over time.)
7. Place your sponge flat on top of the pennies.
8. Add your Wet Palette Paper on top of the sponge.
9. Take a towel and carefully dab off any excess water. You want the surface of your palette paper to be wet, but you don't want any puddles!
10. Add your paint. When you need to put painting aside, cover your wet palette with the lid. Your paint will remain wet for a while, so you can come back to work later!
If the Masterson's Wet Palette is not in the budget, you can also make a homemade wet palette using Tupperware as your Handy Palette, a Sponge, and baking paper as your wet palette paper. Use the same instructions above and switch out the materials.
Hope you found this quick tutorial helpful!
