I use a setup on the left side if the first or second piece have two jewels of the same color. Otherwise I use a setup on the right side.
When I've done with my first chain I try to make some other chains but also I try to survive by not making third column too high because you get game over only when third column makes to the top (unlike Columns III when any column making to the top means a defeat).
