Are you ready for the Zone? I am. And, I hope this clip whets your appetite for the Zone as well, because it is where my next Let's Play takes place.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. takes place in the Zone of Alienation, or more commonly referred to as "The Zone" that was established after the Chernobyl Disaster. However, inside the Zone far more insidious threats exist than simple radiation (Don't worry, there's still danger from radiation present). Mutated monsters, Stalkers, Bandits, the Military and dangerous anomalies are all constantly at war with each other and themselves. Drawing men repeatedly to this dangerous area are artifacts resulting from the second Chernobyl Disaster in 2006.

These artifacts possess strange and magnificent effects, ranging from producing seemingly endless energy to pumping out radiation. Stalkers sneak into the Zone to collect the artifacts - braving the dangers along the way, for the rich profit that can be made from selling them to those outside the Zone. Bandits prey on the Stalkers, taking money and artifacts most often from their corpses. And, the military tries to keep them out. At least, those who don't share the wealth out.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl is the first in a series of survival games (I hesitate to call them survival/horror) that takes great inspiration from the book Roadside Picnic, and the movie also called Stalker. There are notable differences from each, but their influence can be seen immediately. Known throughout gaming communities for its notorious "Nope" moments, dangerous enemies and humorous bugs, Stalker has almost no equal in my eyes. So, let's see what you think.
