Stardate 6047.3: The Enterprise was sent to the Beta Myamid system to find the missing USS Masada, a Starfleet tug of the Ptolemy class. During the journey, the crew encountered and fought against Elasi pirates. Upon reaching the Masada, they discovered that it was being controlled by Cereth ajElasi and its 17 crew members were being held captive. Upon hearing Cereth's request for the release of Elasi criminals in Federation custody, Captain Kirk utilized the Masada's prefix code to lower its defenses and transport a team onboard. The landing party was able to rescue Lieutenant Kevin Keeler and his crew, and Captain Kirk succeeded in convincing the pirates to surrender, returning control of the tug back to the Federation.
